Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov met with the Acting US Ambassador to Bulgaria H. Martin McDowell. The two emphasized the excellent cooperation between the two countries and discussed the possibilities for expanding the partnership in the field of energy.

"Our joint efforts and the initiatives already implemented have yielded excellent results in achieving the energy independence of Bulgaria and the region," said Minister Stankov. Among the projects that contributed to the diversification of energy sources, he pointed out the commercial operation of the liquefied natural gas terminal in Alexandroupolis and the implementation of the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnection.

The meeting also discussed the active cooperation between Bulgaria and the United States in the field of nuclear energy. Emphasis was placed on the implementation of the project for the construction of new nuclear facilities at the Kozloduy NPP site, which is of strategic importance for Bulgaria and the region of Southeast Europe.
