TPP Ruse invests 100 million leva in ecology in the coming years

The Executive Director of TPP Ruse, Eng. Sevdalin Zhelev, said that his team and he are proud that 60 years after its establishment, the company is well-functioning and modern. The fact is that in recent years TPP Ruse has made huge investments in gas capacity in order to improve the ecology.
"There is still no European funding that can be used in such large enterprises as ours, so we strive to invest every penny, both in cleaner production and in improving the condition of the heat transfer network. We work with a small team, but we are proud of what we have achieved," says Eng. Sevdalin Zhelev, Executive Director of TPP Ruse.
Eng. Sevdalin Zhelev said that the investments made in the last 5 years are about 80 million leva.
"Another 100 million leva will be invested in the commissioning of 4 more cogenerators running on natural gas, a plant for the preparation and transport of biomass to the boilers, the construction of a biogas production plant, the introduction of 2 gas turbines, a new slag dump, and others. This should be implemented in the next few years," said Eng. Sevdalin Zhelev.
The Executive Director of TPP Ruse added that this huge amount also includes funds for modernization of the heat transmission network.
"All of our new projects follow the approach of implementing proven innovative practices for environmental protection and expanding the ecological infrastructure through environmentally friendly technologies, such as natural gas cogeneration capacities and the use of bioraw materials," explained Eng. Sevdalin Zhelev.
The company's executive director added that the Ruse Thermal Power Plant's contribution to the state budget in the last 5 years alone, including taxes, fees, insurance and contributions to the Electricity System Security Fund, is 50 million leva.
Regarding speculation that Bulgarian district heating companies are underwriting bills and benefiting themselves personally, Eng. Sevdalin Zhelev said that for the last heating season the average heating bill in Ruse was 100 leva.
"How can expensive coal, expensive carbon emissions, salaries, fees, 20% VAT, payment to the SES Fund be calculated in 100 leva per invoice and even half the money be left for someone? These are poorly conceived fabrications!" said Eng. Sevdalin Zhelev.
During the summer repairs, the Ruse Thermal Power Plant promises serious attention to the renovation of the most problematic sections of the heat transfer network in order to guarantee a better heating season.
