Minister Malinov discussed the situation with the electricity supply in the country with representatives of the EWRC, ESO and the electricity distribution companies
The problems with the electricity supply in the country due to the complicated winter situation were the topic of a meeting initiated by the Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov with representatives of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, "Electricity System Operator" EAD and the three electricity distribution companies - "Electricity Distribution Networks West" EAD, "Electricity Distribution North" AD, "Electricity Distribution South" EAD. Minister Malinov insisted that the damage be repaired and the power supply restored by the end of the day. "In case this does not happen, customers should be paid the penalties stipulated in the general terms and conditions of the contracts for access to the respective electricity distribution network," the Minister of Energy was categorical.
The participants in the meeting were categorical that the prolonged periods of snowfall, which caused trees to fall both in and outside the easement areas, are the main reason for the accidents that have occurred. They united around the need to change the regulatory framework, which now requires easements to be reflected in the cadastral maps and in the property register. This complicates the work of maintaining easements and minimizing the risks of accidents due to the meteorological situation. "The elimination of this requirement will ensure much better efficiency in your work," Minister Malinov was categorical.
The possibilities for expanding clearings in forest areas and targeted investments in strengthening overhead power lines were also highlighted as preventive measures against future emergency situations.
