Minister Nikolov: Bulgaria and India will activate bilateral economic relations
The five largest Indian IT companies now have offices in our country
Bulgaria and India will intensify their cooperation in various sectors of mutual interest. This was discussed at a meeting by the Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. Petko Nikolov, and the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Bulgaria, H.E. Sanjay Rana. The two indicated that one of the most important areas for cooperation are the IT sector and the service sector. During the meeting, it also became clear that the five largest Indian IT companies already have offices in Bulgaria, where Bulgarian specialists and engineers work.
"The traditionally good bilateral relations between Bulgaria and India exist. Our country attaches great importance to the development of our economic cooperation," the Minister of Economy emphasized.
Minister Nikolov and the ambassador of the Republic of India in our country talked about the possibilities of improving investments and trade between the two countries. At the meeting, it was emphasized that in recent years serious interest has been noticed by Indian companies for investments in Bulgaria in a number of sectors. These include agriculture, defense, pharmaceuticals, engineering, clinical research, tourism and hospitality.
Dr. Petko Nikolov and His Excellency Sanjay Rana emphasized the need to utilize the full potential of trade relations between the two countries. As a step in this direction, the holding of the Bulgarian-Indian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation at the beginning of next year, which over the years has played a key role in promoting bilateral partnership, was discussed.
The two have joined forces to organize a business forum within the upcoming meeting, which will be a suitable platform for the opening of new partnerships between Bulgarian and Indian companies.
Yesterday, a conference was held on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of India. It noted the key importance for the economies of the two countries of their long-standing partnership. The Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nikolay Pavlov took part in the event.
