First discussion in our country on the "Dragi" Report and the new economic policy of the EU
Green Transition Forum and the Bulgarian Federation of Industrial Energy Consumers (BFIEC) are organizing the expert discussion "The Dragi Report - the new economic policy of the EU and the prospects for Bulgaria". The event will be held today at the capital hotel "Hyatt Regency Sofia".
Mario Draghi's report, presented in September to the European Parliament, is a key strategic document that examines the main challenges and opportunities facing Europe and its industrial sector. It proposes concrete measures to strengthen the competitiveness of the EU by: creating a new industrial strategy for the EU on the path of decarbonisation; investments in innovation and new technologies; financial instruments to stimulate growth; security of energy supply and energy transformation and strengthening of the single market and reform of European institutions.
Starting the public discussion about the future of Bulgaria within a dynamic and changing EU is essential for our country. Bulgaria must have a clear vision and take an active position in the new realities of the EU.
Therefore, the dialogue platform Green Transition Forum and BFIEC are initiating this first-of-its-kind expert conversation with representatives of the government and Bulgarian business. The purpose of the event is to focus attention on the new proposals for improving European competitiveness and industrial development, to outline their impact on the Bulgarian economy, to hear the opinions and specific proposals of some of the largest enterprises in our country. The topic of mobilizing financial resources for the ideas in the Draghi Report will also be discussed at the forum by representatives of banks and the financial sector.
The discussion will be opened by the Minister of Economy and Industry Petko Nikolov and the Deputy Ministers of Energy and Innovation and Growth - Krasimir Nenov and Krasimir Yanakiev. Among the speakers are the former Minister of Environment and Water Julian Popov, the executive director of the Institute for Market Economy Svetla Kostadinova, the executive director of AmCham Ivan Mihailov, the former vice president of the European Investment Bank Liliana Pavlova and the executive director of BBR Tsanko Arabadzhiev. Lyubomir Datsov, Nikola Yankov, Nikolay Marev, Ivaylo Georgiev, Teodora Borisova, Konstantin Bozhinov and Dimitar Enchev will also take part.
