Minister Malinov will participate in a meeting of energy ministers from the European Union

The Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov will participate in the regular meeting of the EU Council "Transport, Telecommunications, Energy", part "Energy", which will be held on October 15, 2024 in Luxembourg.

During the meeting, the ministers are expected to exchange views regarding the contribution of the energy sector to the competitiveness of the European Union in the context of the recommendations of the report of the former Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Draghi.

The meeting's agenda also provides for a discussion on electricity prices, as well as information from the European Commission on preparations for the 2024/2025 winter season. The Commission will also brief ministers on the follow-up to the implementation of the REPowerEU plan and the implementation of the Fit for Target 55 legislation. The Minister of Energy of Ukraine will inform about the energy situation in the country.

During his visit to Luxembourg, Minister Malinov will also talk with his colleagues from Romania and Greece about coordinated actions of the three countries in response to the challenges related to high energy prices. Minister Malinov will introduce his colleagues to the declaration prepared by Bulgaria "Energy connectivity to achieve the goals of regional partnerships in the European political community for an improved energy transition", which is to be signed during COP 29 in Baku in November.

The Bulgarian Minister of Energy will participate in Luxembourg and in a working lunch of the Nuclear Alliance with the participation of the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, representatives of the EC, the Presidency and the Secretariat of the Council.
