The former cigarette factory in Blagoevgrad can become an industrial center for the city. Reindustrialization is a leading policy of the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, and the Bulgarian Development Bank is a key element in its implementation. We are looking for a balance for the best realization of the region's assets in the interest of the people here. This was stated by the Minister of Innovation and Growth Assoc. Rosen Karadimov in Blagoevgrad today. He held a working meeting with the mayor of Blagoevgrad Municipality Metodi Baikushev, the regional governor Georgi Dinev, the chairman of the Municipal Council Radoslav Taskov, the chairman of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) Delyana Ivanova and the executive director of BDB Iliya Karanikolov. The aim was to discuss the possibilities of attracting investors to the region. Earlier, Minister Karadimov, BBR management and local government representatives visited the factory, part of the Bulgartabac assets acquired by BBR.
"We need to achieve the market effect, but combined with the social one - opening new jobs by attracting high-tech investments. There are two universities in Blagoevgrad, which suggest high-tech productions to offer jobs to the highly educated staff from the universities," said the Minister of Innovation and Growth. Karadimov emphasized that the synchrony between the institutions is key to achieving sustainable results in the interest of the people of the region.
"The facilities are unique. In fact, this is a practically built industrial park, it is ready with all its infrastructure, with extremely serious buildings, with administrative buildings", Minister Karadimov said.
"If we manage to jointly create good conditions, when the investor comes, he can also receive various types of support from the state under the Investment Promotion Act," Karadimov also said. He gave as an example the grant-in-aid for a priority investor and the incentive measures under ZNI, one of which is the construction of leading technical infrastructure.
The Chairperson of the National Assembly of BBR, Delyana Ivanova, stated that a full analysis of the assets of the former cigarette factory will be made in order to realize its full potential in the interest of the citizens.
For his part, the mayor of Blagoevgrad, Metodi Baikushev, said that there are already stated investment intentions for the field, as well as a development perspective and a clear will on the part of the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, the Development Bank, the municipality and the district.
Earlier in the day, Minister Karadimov participated in the program on the occasion of the holiday of Blagoevgrad. He laid flowers at the monument of the Macedonian-Odrina militia "Mother Bulgaria".
