Minister Malinov in Budapest: Active partnership between EU countries is crucial for a secure common energy market

"The active partnership between the member states of the European Union is crucial for building a secure integrated energy market." This is what the Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov said in Budapest to the participants of the informal meeting of the EU Council "Transport, Telecommunications and Energy", part "Energy".

During the meeting of the energy ministers in the Hungarian capital, Malinov emphasized the key role of regulatory stability for the long-term development of the energy policy aimed at achieving the goals of decarbonization and climate neutrality of the community by 2050. "Bulgaria supports the recommendation to fully use the potential of the common energy EU market, which will increase the competitiveness of the energy industry," Minister Malinov stressed.

Regarding the acceleration of the green transformation and the reduction of emissions in the energy-intensive sectors, the wide and rapid application of clean technologies and access to financing funds are of essential importance, it became clear from his words.

The Bulgarian minister pointed out that the issues discussed at the meeting are a priority not only for the mandate of the rotating presidency of Budapest, but also for all countries, especially as regards the contribution of geothermal energy to the energy mix and the rich Hungarian experience in this field.

The host country is also one of the participants in the initiative to build the Vertical Gas Corridor, the main goal of which is to expand Central and Eastern Europe's access to supplies of liquefied natural gas from reliable sources. Minister Malinov also pointed out this fact during his talks with the Hungarian Minister of Energy, Csaba Lantos. The two discussed the progress in the implementation of the joint initiative of Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine and Moldova. The vertical corridor is among the main priorities for Bulgaria in the region of Southeast and Central Europe. In Bulgaria and Hungary, all the necessary steps will be taken to implement the projects under the concept, so that it will be realized within the set deadlines, the two ministers were categorical during the meeting.
