TPP "ConturGlobal Maritsa East 3" is working again with one of its units

TPP "ConturGlobal Maritsa East 3" resumed operation of one of its thermal units today. The reason for this is the high electricity prices in the last few days. At the moment, the production of unit 4 of the thermal plant has been resumed, it is clear from the data of the European ENTSO-E.

It was the evening peak demand for energy that reached levels of over 1,200 BGN/mwh in some hours, which is completely acceptable for the plant to operate on the free market in our country. However, the company may experience a labor shortage problem after laying off a significant portion of its staff. Now the ConturGlobal Maritsa East 3 TPP will continue to operate as long as these high levels of electricity prices remain.

This is the coal plant's first ignition and open market operation since its long-term contract with the state expired at the end of February this year.

From the operational data, it can be seen that other coal plants are currently adding more of their capacities. The state thermal power plant "Maritsa East 2" ignited another of its large units, and the thermal power plant "AES Galabovo" operated both of its units.

"Bobov Dol" TPP also operated with two units during the evening peak in the demand for electricity in our country and in the region.
