The procedure for building an infrastructure for the storage of electricity from renewable energy sources has been announced for public discussion
The Ministry of Energy has announced for public discussion the procedure for the construction of a national infrastructure for the storage of electricity from renewable sources (RESTORE) from the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan (NRSP). Its purpose is to provide an opportunity to significantly increase the share of energy from renewable sources in the country's energy mix, while simultaneously building the necessary infrastructure for its storage.
“The construction of storage facilities is key to the efficient balancing and management of the power system. The successful implementation of this procedure will guarantee the security and stability of the power system. An opportunity to integrate the electricity produced from renewable sources on the market in the country and the region will also be provided," emphasized Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov. According to him, this will contribute to the sustainable development of the renewable energy sector.
The total amount of the grant funding is nearly BGN 1.2 billion. The grant must not exceed 50% of the eligible costs, but not more than BGN 371.6 thousand (without VAT) for each megawatt hour of usable energy capacity, the rules of the procedure provide.
The investment will support the construction and commissioning of a national infrastructure of renewable electricity storage facilities with at least 3,000 MWh of usable energy capacity.
