Minister Malinov: Investments in safe equipment will contribute to the sustainable development of energy

"Continuing investments in secure equipment will contribute to the sustainable development of the Bulgarian energy sector." This was said by Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov during a meeting to present energy production technology: opportunities and prospects for sustainable development. It was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce, Solar Turbines and Glavbolgarstroy. The ambassador of the United States of America to our country H.E. participated in the meeting Kenneth Merten.

During the discussion, Minister Malinov highlighted the successful ten-year cooperation of the Bulgarian side with the leading manufacturer of energy equipment - the American company Solar Turbines. "Following the large-scale project for the modernization of compressor stations and the construction of two new ones, a total of 17 state-of-the-art low-emission gas turbine compressor units manufactured by the company are operating in Bulgaria. They meet the highest operational and environmental standards," he recalled. According to him, this energy infrastructure has a key role in ensuring the reliability and flexibility of the grid. "Thus, the modernized Bulgarian gas transmission system provides access to significant quantities of natural gas from various sources, including liquefied natural gas, for all countries in the region," Minister Malinov emphasized. "Within the framework of the Chiren underground gas storage expansion project, 4 more Solar Turbines compressors will be installed on the site of the facility, with which the necessary technical parameters will be achieved to double the capacity of the storage," he added.

"Our country already faces a number of challenges in balancing energy produced from renewable sources. In this regard, we should invest in balancing capacities that will provide a sustainable solution," said Malinov. He expressed confidence that the experience of Solar Turbines in the production of gas turbines for the production of electrical energy will contribute to achieving the goals of the energy transition in our country.
