A record number of students, over 200, participated this year in Electrohold Open Days. The event was held in the week of May 27 to 31 at the Technical Training Center of Electricity Distribution Networks West in Sofia.

Students and teachers from grades 8 to 11 from nine vocational high schools on the territory of Western Bulgaria participated in it. The program included a theoretical part with interesting facts about the electricity network, its development and future, presented by Velichko Atanasov, chief engineer of methodological guidance and training at ERM Zapad and Vanyo Nikolov, project manager at ESCO Bulgaria. Demonstrations of the work of a laboratory car and a functioning, small photovoltaic plant installed on the training ground of the Technical Center were also organized for the students. Eighth graders got to know the electricity sector and the activities of the electricity distribution company ERM Zapad through the team game "Become an Energy Engineer". The winning team received an electrical engineering STEM kit.

"In our companies you can find a stable work environment, opportunities for additional qualification and continuing education. The future is electrical, which means you have chosen the right profession. I hope we can welcome you as part of our team soon!” said Karel Kral, CEO of Electrohold Bulgaria at the closing ceremony of the event.

Open days are one of the many initiatives in Electrohold's strategy to stimulate vocational education and to advise young people in their choice of profession. For more than ten years now, the company has been providing scholarships in the "Energy for the Future" contest and providing paid internships for vocational high school students and students. The company is also one of the first to join the program for dual training in electrical engineering in Bulgaria.
