From January to March this year, natural gas fell by as much as 34%, indicating that market forces of supply and demand are a sufficient tool to "normalize the price" without the need for government intervention. This is good news for those who already use or are considering choosing the blue fuel as a source of heat and domestic hot water against the background of the upcoming increase in the price of electricity after July 1.

The comparison of the prices of energy sources in March this year shows that natural gas is the most profitable choice for Bulgarian households (BGN 0.10/kWh with VAT). At the same time, it became clear that from the summer of 2024, the ERPs will not offer a night tariff, so households will pay as "daytime" all the energy they use. With the new changes in the Energy Act from July 1 this year, full liberalization of the wholesale electricity market comes into force, the three EPPs must operate on an exchange basis, and the state has not come up with a plan to protect at least the most vulnerable households.

Gas distribution companies report that the first three months of 2024 show a normalization of consumption, and the number of received applications for gasification is increasing. Against this background, an important trend in the real estate market stands out – more and more investors want to provide access to gas already at the project level, because this increases the market value of the properties.

Natural gas has regained its position as the cheapest, most economical and environmentally friendly energy for heating, and the number of households that prefer it and thus save on energy costs continues to grow.

See how much you can save by switching to natural gas.
