Bulgaria and France signed a Declaration on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy for civil purposes

The Minister of Energy Rumen Radev and the Minister of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty of the French Republic Bruno Le Maire signed a Declaration of Intent for cooperation in the field of nuclear energy for civil purposes between the two countries. This happened at a meeting in Paris on February 21, the Ministry of Energy announced in our country.

The declaration aims to establish a framework for strengthening cooperation in nuclear energy. It includes exchanges between the respective nuclear programs, cooperation between nuclear industries and supply chains, the promotion of the participation of industrial enterprises from both countries in new projects, safety research, development and innovation, maintenance and enhancement of high level of knowledge and expertise by strengthening cooperation in training and education, etc.

Minister Bruno Le Maire: "We want to expand our cooperation with Bulgaria in other areas regarding nuclear energy. This includes supply chain collaboration, skills development. I put forward the idea of a project of common interest in the nuclear field, because you know we have many projects of common interest on many topics, including raw materials, hydrogen. It is worth having projects of common interest in the field of nuclear energy"

Minister Rumen Radev: "I want to express my satisfaction with the signing of this Declaration on cooperation in the nuclear sphere. When we share technology know-how, educational and qualification programs between Bulgaria and France in the nuclear field, it means that we also share an understanding of the future, but also of security and competitiveness - a green future based on a real base load, on low-carbon energy, which is safe, reliable and gives us a chance to be sustainable, competitive and develop our economies in the best possible way."

Nuclear energy, decarbonization goals and opportunities for the development of renewable energy sources were the main topics during the meeting between Minister Rumen Radev and Minister Bruno Le Maire.
