The deputies decided that BGN 160 million should go to financial support for the Maritsa East 2 TPP and the miners in Stara Zagora
BEH is tasked with assessing the form of the financial injection next week
With BGN 160 million, the state will support the "Maritsa East 2" TPP. The funds will be allocated through the Bulgarian Energy Holding. This became clear from the words of GERB leader Boyko Borisov today in the parliament. The conversation on the subject took place between Borisov, Prime Minister Denkov and the MP from the DPS Delyan Peevski. According to Borisov, GERB was not aware of how dire the current financial situation of those working in the Mariska basin is. Therefore, support is now also provided for the miners, which will probably be transformed as a financial injection for Mini "Maritsa East". After that, the GERB leader also called the mayor of Stara Zagora to tell him how to calm the people there.
The money for the aid will come, because "the ability to collect is high, as Asen Vasilev says," added Borisov.
We remind you that the financial condition of the state thermal power plant "Maritsa East 2" is shaken because of the high prices of carbon emissions that the company has to pay. The company had a solid profit in 2022 due to high electricity prices in Europe, but this year levels have fallen and once again the thermal power plant is accumulating losses. Coal production in the region is preparing for a transformation and new outcrops for mining are difficult to make. Last year, Mini Maritza East had a contract to export coal to Serbia, which helped stabilize the company's financial situation.
