The Bulgarian gas transmission operator "Bulgartransgaz" EAD and the operator of the gas transmission system of the Republic of Turkey BOTAŞ A.Ş signed an operational Interconnection Agreement for the Strandja/Malkochlar point.

The signing of the document is the result of the long-term joint efforts of the teams of the two operators. The agreement specifies the technical conditions, including the minimum transmission pressure and the quality characteristics of the natural gas, as well as the applicable procedures on both sides of the Strandja/Malkochlar point.

Based on the conditions agreed in the document, the technical capacity of the Strandzha/Malkochlar point in the Turkey-Bulgaria direction in the gas transmission network of Bulgartransgaz EAD is set at 117,677,153 kWh/d, and in the Bulgaria-Turkey direction - 504,138,541 kWh /d, specified by the Bulgarian gas operator.

The signing of an agreement for interconnection of the gas transmission networks of Bulgaria and Turkey at the Strandja/Malkochlar point is of key importance for the diversification of natural gas sources not only for Bulgaria, but also for the regional and European gas markets. Turkey's gas transmission network provides access to natural gas from local fields, Azerbaijan, Iran and the global LNG market through Turkey's regasification terminals.

With the signing of the present interconnection agreement, the leading role of the Bulgarian gas transmission operator in achieving market integration, diversification and security of natural gas supplies in the region and Europe is confirmed.

The coordination of the requests and the distribution of the transferred quantities will be carried out according to the Agreement, and information about the procedures concerning the users of the point is published on the website of "Bulgartransgaz" EAD in the section CUSTOMER AREA -> TERMS OF USE OF THE SERVICES.
