Minister Stoicheva: MIG certifies investments for BGN 660 million with over 2,350 jobs in 2023

In 2023, the Ministry of Innovation and Growth issued certificates for 31 investment projects with an investment amount of over BGN 660 million. According to them, the creation of 2,353 new jobs is planned. This was announced by the Minister of Innovation and Growth Milena Stoycheva at a working meeting with the Mayor of Varna Municipality Blagomir Kotsev, the regional governor Andriyana Andreeva, the rectors of the higher schools in the city and representatives of the local ecosystem.

Minister Stoicheva also announced that 18 of the certified projects are in high-tech production and services, and ten are in the processing industry. The Ministry of Innovation and Growth is awaiting approval of two more investment projects in high-tech industries with an estimated investment amount of over BGN 14 million and with 180 new jobs planned.

Under the Investment Promotion Act, funds are also allocated from the budget of the Ministry of Innovation and Growth for the construction of elements of the technical infrastructure and for partial reimbursement of the insurance and health contributions paid by the employer. Thus, last year the Ministry provided nearly BGN 18 million to support 17 investment projects.

During the working meeting at the University of Economics, Minister Stoycheva discussed with the mayor of Varna and the rectors of the universities the introduction of deep technologies, the development of the innovation valleys and the deep technological innovation valley in the city, strengthening the relationship between science and business, attracting investments to the area, as well as the transformation of Varna into an attractive center for innovation. "As a city of knowledge, Varna has a huge potential to be one of the centers of innovation and create capacity for the economy. MIG is upgrading the possibilities to support investment projects in industry and services by improving the regulatory framework. We are working for accelerated economic development and reduction of imbalances at the regional level," it became clear from Stoycheva's words.

Earlier in the day, Minister Stoycheva also attended the ceremony for the solemn celebration of 143 years since the founding of VVMU "N. Y. Vaptsarov".
