The opportunities for attracting new investments in Bulgaria in the field of energy, trade and in transport and infrastructure projects were discussed at meetings with key Greek investors by the Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov. He held a series of meetings with representatives of Greek companies in Thessaloniki within the framework of the 87th Thessaloniki International Fair, at which this year Bulgaria is the guest of honor.

"Our presence at this important international forum provides ample opportunities and prospects for the development of cooperation in a number of areas," the minister said. He recalled that the main focus of the Bulgarian participation in the Thessaloniki fair is high technology, innovation and education, but also that companies in sectors such as energy, trade, logistics and construction are also presented at the exhibition.

Minister Bogdanov pointed out that Greece is the third largest source of foreign direct investment in Bulgaria for 2023. Since the beginning of this year alone, Greek companies have invested 300 million euros in Bulgaria.

During the meetings with Greek business, the possibilities for new investments in renewable energy sources and expansion of trade in petroleum products were discussed.

Minister Bogdanov pointed out that Greek companies can also invest in the production of energy storage systems in our country.

The topic of the talks between the Bulgarian Minister of Economy and the representatives of the Greek companies was the development of renewable energy projects near the industrial zones in our country.

During the meetings, it became clear that new investments will be made in commercial parks, as well as in the opening of new commercial establishments in Bulgaria for Greek companies, which is a prerequisite for the creation of new jobs.

Bogdanov discussed the possibilities for deepening cooperation in the field of innovation with representatives of Alexander Innovation Zone SA, which is the planning and management body of a Greek government project to turn Thessaloniki into an innovation zone.

60 Bulgarian companies and organizations from various sectors are participating in the 87th Thessaloniki International Fair.

Already on the first day of the exhibition, Minister Bogdanov announced the launch of two new projects - the first cargo flights of the Bulgarian company Dronamix, which will be launched on the Greek market, and the new Endurosat program for launching a satellite constellation into a low orbit, which will provide huge opportunities for development of new technologies for security, environmental monitoring and early prevention of disasters and accidents.
