Minister Bogdanov: We are developing a strategy for the development of industrial zones in Bulgaria
Active conversations are starting with businesses from all over the country
The Ministry of Economy and Industry is starting an active campaign to create and implement a comprehensive new policy for the development of industrial zones and parks. Their development must be related to specific sectors and tied to the expectations of investors in these sectors. This was announced by the Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov during his visit to Shumen, where he held a meeting with business representatives from the region and visited the city's Industrial Zone.
"The new strategy for the development of industrial zones aims to solve one of the main problems addressed to us by a large part of the investors we meet with - unprepared industrial sites, without the necessary infrastructure and resources", the minister pointed out. He announced that he is starting an active work in order to prepare the terrains that are needed and the infrastructure for them.
"We see areas where there is a lack of organization. Investors need two months to start work and start production. In order to be effective in attracting investors, we need to build key areas structured in specific industries, he said.
According to him, active talks are starting with businesses from all over the country. "The government is committed to providing stability and security to companies in the country," the minister said. "For us, it is extremely important to ensure predictability and support in providing the necessary resources so that Bulgarian companies can develop successfully, open new markets, and add value to their productions," emphasized Bogdanov.
He announced to representatives of companies and investors from the region that the meetings with the businesses start from Shumen, not by chance. "We are starting from Northern Bulgaria, which, with our acceptance into Schengen, will be one of the main beneficiaries of investment projects, because better logistical connections along the North and South corridors will be ensured," Bogdanov pointed out.
The Minister of Economy and Industry also visited the production facilities of "Alcomet" AD - the largest Bulgarian producer of aluminum products - investor of the year for 2022. He pointed out that the company is an important example of how the Bulgarian industry should develop - to invest in modern technologies and in the development of human resources, in the creation of new products with high added value.
During his meeting with Fikret Indje, the majority owner of Alcomet AD, it became clear that the company has plans for investments over the next 10 years for over BGN 300 million, as well as a new project that is expected to start within this and the beginning of next year. Last year alone, the company invested over 27 million euros and opened new markets for its products in the USA.
