EWRC confirmed the price of natural gas for July of BGN 60.58/mwh excluding VAT
The price reduction of over 8% compared to June is a favorable factor for household consumers, businesses and heating companies
The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) approved the price of natural gas for the month of July in the amount of BGN 60.58/MWh, excluding access, transmission, excise and VAT prices. At this price, Bulgargaz EAD will sell natural gas to final suppliers and to persons who have been issued a license for the production and transmission of thermal energy. This was announced this afternoon by the energy regulator.
The approved price of natural gas includes the component price of natural gas at the entrance to the gas transmission networks, the component for the activity "public supply", covering the costs of "Bulgargaz" EAD for storing quantities in the gas storage facility in "Chiren", in fulfillment of obligations under the emergency action plan.
The Commission confirmed the price after an analysis of the current data submitted today by Bulgargaz EAD, forming the price of natural gas for the month of July. They take into account the quotations on the international gas markets and the exchange rate until June 30 of this year. inclusive.
The regulator found that the total estimated quantity for the domestic market was provided by two different sources of supply.
The price mix for the month of July includes the entire agreed amount of Azeri natural gas delivered via the "Bulgaria - Greece" interconnector /IGB/, according to the current long-term contract with Azerbaijan. These amounts cover 72.2% of the consumption for the month and are of key importance in achieving favorable prices for the blue fuel.
After organizing a tender procedure, Bulgargaz concluded a contract for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) with a trader from the region for the month of July, following a tender procedure, subject to requirements for a minimum delivery price and a proposed method of payment.
The secured quantities cover the commitments of the public supplier for the month of July - to final suppliers and heating companies, as well as the quantities under bilateral contracts with industrial customers.
The approved price of BGN 60.58/MWh is 8% lower than the price for June, which was BGN 65.82/MWh. Despite the fact that in the period after June 12, the TTF-month-ahead stock index increased by more than 19%, the public supplier has largely managed to neutralize this trend, thanks to the high share of Azerbaijani gas in the total consumption.
"The price under the contract with the Azerbaijani gas supplier is not tied to the TTF stock index, but to the price of oil and its derivatives. This circumstance has a decisive role in eliminating sharp price deviations on the international gas exchanges and ensures favorable prices for Bulgarian consumers", stated the Chairman of EWRC Assoc. Ivan Ivanov at the open meeting on 28.06.2023.
EWRC's decision to approve the price of natural gas for the month of July 2023 will be published on the website of the regulator.
