The situation in Russia is very dynamic, and information is scarce, but definitely the latest actions will complicate the development of the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by President Rumen Radev in response to journalistic questions related to the situation in Russia following the actions of Yevgeny Prigozhin and the private military company led by him. The head of state commented on the topic in front of Bulgarian and foreign journalists before his participation in this year's edition of the Wachau European Forum, which takes place in Austria.

The President stated that this case is not only an internal political problem, because potential military actions on the territory of Russia are also involved. The head of state emphasized again that our country must strengthen its defense capacity in the NATO system, given what is happening.

In response to a journalist's question, Rumen Radev noted that until now "Wagner" had a significant participation, both in offensive and counter-offensive actions, and this is now changing. The President stated that, given the dynamic situation, it is not yet possible to comment on the goals of the private military company.

"Whenever a mercenary army is formed, which is heavily armed and has certain people in it, it is a problem what will happen to it when the war is over, said President Radev, adding that at the moment the denouement occurs even before the end of the military actions. "This is a really serious problem for Russia," Rumen Radev said, but added that Prigozhin had local and limited forces and could be neutralized if Russian authorities consolidated. The president pointed out that the coming days will be indicative of what is happening.
