The Ministry of Energy has received information that the former head of the Kozloduy NPP Alexander Nikolov, who was on the Magnitsky list, is trying to promote Russian influence and corrupt practices. Therefore, the management of the nuclear power plant was changed. This was stated by Energy Minister Rosen Hristov to Nova TV.

"We structure things in an absolutely transparent way. Energy is a sector where budgets are huge. It is about hundreds of billions in investment and operation and maintenance costs. It is not unexpected that there are such appetites. We actively fight against all kinds of corrupt practices, including partnering with various services in the country and abroad", Hristov is categorical.

According to him, Bulgaria welcomes any help and active position in the fight against corruption.

There are certainly attempts at Russian influence in the Ministry of Energy, especially when it comes to nuclear technologies, believes Minister Hristov.

"Our solution is firm diversification and de-dependence. As you saw in December, we concluded two contracts for the supply of new, fresh nuclear fuel", the energy minister also said.
