Bulgargaz wants 40% more expensive gas for January 2023
"Bulgargaz" requests in an application to the energy regulator in the person of the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation that the price of natural gas for the month of January be BGN 204.53 per MWh. This is clear from a press release of the gas company.
This represents an increase of 40% compared to the established price of BGN 146.09 per MWh for the month of December.
"Today, 12.12.2022, Bulgargaz EAD submitted to EWRC an application for approval of the price for the month of January 2023. The price, in the amount of BGN 204.53/MWh or EUR 104.57/MWh, calculated according to the fixing of the BNB (without access, transmission, excise and VAT) was formed in accordance with Art. 17 of Ordinance No. 2 of 19.03.2013 on the regulation of natural gas prices," the gas company said in a statement. At the same time, they claim that the value in the EWRC application is lower than the prices of gas hubs in Europe.
"The price proposed by Bulgargaz EAD is more than 25% lower than the prices of gas hubs in Europe for delivery in January 2023, which are currently approximately 139 EUR/MWh.
A final proposal for the approval of the price of natural gas for the month of January 2023 will be submitted to EWRC on 01.01.2023, taking into account the quotations of the pricing components as of 31.12.2022," the announcement states.
