An expert council for economic analyzes in Bulgaria will offer solutions for a more successful development of the Bulgarian economy, it became clear today in the Council of Ministers, where the official deputy prime minister for management of European funds Atanas Pekanov presented a concept for the creation of an expert council for economic analyses. At a press conference in the Council of Ministers, Pekanov explained that, following the best practices and traditions from other countries, the Council will aim to provide Bulgarian society and institutions with in-depth expertise on leading economic topics, helping in decision-making for the country, BTA wrote.

The purpose of this council is to propose solutions for the more successful development of the Bulgarian economy, the Deputy Prime Minister explained. According to him, such councils function throughout Europe and other countries of the world, and with their work they contribute to making better decisions and to the successful development of the economy, stepping on the achievements of modern economic science.

The council will have an advisory nature and will be chaired by Plamen Nenov, professor of macroeconomics at the Norwegian Business School. Associate Professor Plamen Nenov will head the Expert Council for Economic Analysis, Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov announced. He emphasized that the goal is for world-renowned proven economists to provide solutions to current economic and financial challenges facing Bulgaria.

The Council will include leading world economists who work in various fields of the economic discipline and are among the Bulgarian scientists who publish in leading academic journals. Some of them are: Petyo Bonev, assistant professor of econometrics, University St. Gallen; Ralitsa Ganeva, professor of macroeconomics, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski"; Stanley Goshev, Lecturer in Finance, University of Exeter; Jeffrey Nielsen, Professor of Macroeconomics, American University in Bulgaria.

The expert council is a supra-party body. It will prepare opinions and recommendations in order to improve the economy and welfare. The main principle of the Council is operational independence from state institutions. The participants will work voluntarily and free of charge and will sign a declaration of lack of material interest.
