Prime Minister Petkov will inspect the construction of the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector
After Prime Minister Kiril Petkov inspected the construction of the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnection in the Stara Zagora region on Friday, today on March 21, the prime minister will inspect the construction of the interconnector in the region of Komotini, Greece. This is stated in a statement of the press center of the Council of Ministers.
The gas connection will connect the gas transmission networks of the two neighboring countries, providing access to the Southern Gas Corridor and a number of new natural gas sources.
IGB has a total length of 182 km, most of which are on Bulgarian territory. The route of the gas pipeline passes through the municipalities of Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Dimitrovgrad and Kardzhali, providing an opportunity for gasification of all settlements in the region.
The interconnector is of great importance not only for the development of the regions, but also for the energy independence and security of Bulgaria. The project is in excellent synergy with other major international projects such as the Trans-Adriatic and Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TAP and TANAP), as well as with planned and existing liquefied natural gas terminals.
