The European Union has awarded an additional 63m euros in grants for the decommissioning of the four decommissioned small units of the Kozloduy NPP. This was stated to BNR by Sergey Tsochev, a member of the management board of the State Enterprise "Radioactive Waste". The shutdown of the small units of Kozloduy NPP has cost 433m euros under the Kozloduy International Fund and 290m euros in Bulgarian co-financing for decommissioning activities, Sergei Tsochev said.

"In order to achieve the decommissioning targets by 2030, an estimate of € 1.35 billion has been made. This estimate is made every 5 years. A new one is forthcoming this year. that there is a shortage of 91 million euros, which was largely compensated at the end of January. On January 25 this year, a regulation of the Council of the EU was adopted, which gave Bulgaria an additional 63 million euros by 2027, "said Tsochev.

By the end of last year, the two funds for decommissioning and radioactive waste management have collected BGN 1.555 billion, including the money that will be needed for Units 5 and 6 of Kozloduy NPP, when it comes. the moment for their closure.
