PM Boyko Borissov and Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov inspect regional waste landfill near Blagoevgrad

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov inspected the regional waste landfill near Blagoevgrad, Focus Radio-Pirin reported.

They were accompanied by the Regional Governor of Blagoevgrad, Biser Mihaylov, the Regional Coordinator of GERB and MP Daniella Saveklieva, MP Stefan Apostolov, the mayors of Blagoevgrad and Simitli Dr. Atanas Kambitov and Apostol Apostolov, and others. Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said such facilities were especially important for the population not only in Blagoevgrad but also in four other municipalities.

Earlier was the official opening of the Regional Waste Management System, Blagoevgrad region, serving the municipalities of Blagoevgrad, Simitli, Rila, Kocherinovo and Boboshevo, Phase I. At the same time, a groundbreaking ceremony took place for a project under "Design and construction of additional infrastructure /installation for pre-treatment of municipal waste and composting installation for separate collection of biodegradable and/or green waste/ for the development of the regional waste management system of the Blagoevgrad region, including the municipalities of Blagoevgrad, Simitli, Rila, Kocherinovo and Boboshevo."

Borissov and Goranov have arrived in Petrich to open a new plant that will provide jobs for 420 people. The event, hosted by Mayor of Petrich Municipality Dimitar Brachkov, was attended by the Regional Governor of Blagoevgrad, Biser Mihaylov, deputy mayors of the municipality, business representatives, ambassadors of Switzerland, Sweden, Germany and Italy, MPs.

After the ceremony and a tour of the plant, Prime Minister Borissov will visit the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica as in August the government allocated BGN 100,000 for exploring the site, which is considered very important for the development of tourism in Petrich.

The company, which is opening a plant in Petrich, is making its second greenfield investment in the city, and will build its fifth manufacturing base in Bulgaria. The plant, with an area of 7, 400 sq.m, will produce low-voltage products. The company’s first manufacturing base in Petrich was opened in 1996, with a total area of 5,000 sq. m.
