The Constitutional Court filed a lawsuit for the appointment of Kiril Petkov as acting Minister of Economy
The Constitutional Court has filed a lawsuit regarding the appointment of Kiril Petkov as caretaker Minister of Economy at the request of 55 deputies, the institution announced.
This happened after earlier representatives of GERB submitted a request to declare the decree of President Rumen Radev to appoint the caretaker government unconstitutional due to the dual citizenship of the Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov - Bulgarian and Canadian.
"Today, August 16, 2021, the Constitutional Court instituted a constitutional case №18 / 2021 at the request of 55 MPs to establish the unconstitutionality of Decree № 129 of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria on the appointment of a caretaker government of 12 May 2021. (promulgated, SG No. 39/2021), in the part by which Kiril Petkov Petkov has been appointed Minister of Economy, "the court said in a statement.
