TPP "Maritsa East 2" also includes facilities for operation on the free market
The active communication of the management of the Ministry of Energy with TPP "Maritsa East 2" on the work of the plant for the free market continues. According to data from the Bulgarian Independent Energy Exchange, the expectations for tomorrow, August 9, 2021, the electricity prices of the Day Ahead segment again exceed BGN 300 / MWh. In response to this situation, the management of the Ministry of Energy insisted to the management of the TPP that additional capacities of the plant be put into operation tomorrow for operation on the free market. This is an opportunity both for the realization of additional revenues by the plant and for reducing the pressure on the market from the high electricity prices.
Only a few days ago, as a result of an active dialogue between the management of the Ministry of Energy and TPP Maritza East 2, a third unit of the plant, which until then had been operating with two of its eight units, was put into operation on the free market at full capacity. This immediately affected the prices, reducing their values by about BGN 70 per day.
At the time of announcing the information from the Ministry of Energy, TPP Maritsa East 2 continues to operate with three units, according to operational data.
