International Atomic Energy Agency mission reviews operation of Kozloduy nuclear power plants
Measures for safe long-term operation are implemented in a timely manner and meet safety standards, confirmed international experts
From July 6 to 15, the SALTO * mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was held at Kozloduy NPP, which reviewed the activities for ensuring the long-term operation (DSE) of Units 5 and 6.
During the mission, a thorough review of documentation was made and in working meetings with experts and managers of the nuclear power plant were discussed activities in the areas of "Organization for Aging Management and TEU activities", "Determining the scope, programs of the plant and corrective program measures ”,“ Aging management of mechanical structures, systems and components ”,“ Aging management of structures, systems and components of electrical equipment and control and management systems ”,“ Aging management of building structures, systems and components ” , “Human Resources Management, Competences and Knowledge for SEE”.
The team, made up of experts from the Czech Republic, Spain, Slovakia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as three IAEA representatives, found a good performance to be shared with the international professional community. Proposals were also made for further improvement of the implemented activities for safe long-term operation, the nuclear power plant announced.
The Executive Director of Kozloduy NPP praised the IAEA's support to the nuclear power plant and stressed that the results of this mission will contribute to the improvement of the activities for ensuring the safe operation of Units 5 and 6 in the period after the extension of their operational life. .
IAEA Team Leader Gabor Petyofi noted that the staff of Kozloduy NPP has demonstrated professionalism, openness and responsiveness to proposals for improvements and that the measures for safe long-term operation are implemented in a timely manner and meet the safety standards of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The current SALTO mission was preceded by two Pre-SALTO missions - one for Unit 5 in 2016 and one for Unit 6 in 2018.
