"For years, Bulgaria will receive transit fees from gas transmission, which will benefit generations to come," said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who inspected the construction and installation work on the modernization of the Lozenets compressor station. Two new gas turbocharger units are being built there, which are of the latest generation, manufactured by the American company Solar Turbines, the government information service reports.

"We fought a lot, I am grateful to the European Commission, we have prioritized the Balkan gas hub, we are upgrading our energy system and we have created a modern infrastructure," said Boyko Borissov.

As of this week, 38-40 million cubic meters of gas pass through the station every day.

"Every day this week, between 38 and 40 million cubic meters of gas are transported through our gas transmission system in all directions, including the Romanian, Serbian, Greek and the markets of the Republic of Northern Macedonia," it became clear from the live broadcast of reception.

"These are the best American compressors, state-of-the-art and most expensive. In order to have this technological opportunity, we have thought, designed and built, "said Prime Minister Borissov.

Prime Minister Borissov noted that the government has overcome crises, including the worst financial crisis, the migrant crisis, and now the pandemic crisis. The Prime Minister said that next week our country will receive over 200,000 vaccines. "We will offer to send 5,000 vaccines to the Republic of Northern Macedonia - as a real friendly gesture of solidarity for human health. And in April we will receive more than a million vaccines, "added Boyko Borissov.

The second stage of the modernization of the compressor stations of the gas transmission network of Bulgartransgaz EAD is currently underway at the Lozenets compressor station.

The project is key and ensures the efficient and environmentally friendly transmission of natural gas. During the first stage of the project "Modernization of Lozenets", "Strandzha", "Ihtiman" and "Petrich" in the period 2015 - 2016 were installed two units at the stations "Strandzha" and "Lozenets" and one at the Ihtiman and Petrich stations. For the implementation of this part of the project Bulgartransgaz EAD invests BGN 220 million.

In 2019, the implementation of the second stage of modernization of the compressor stations "Petrich", "Lozenets" and "Ihtiman" started, on which a total of 4 new low-emission compressor units are installed. In February this year, the installed unit of CS "Petrich", which is type Taurus 70, was put into operation. The construction and installation works on the other two compressor stations continue, and two units of CS "Lozenets" type Mars 90 and one unit of CS "Ihtiman" type Taurus 70. They will be put into operation by the end of the third quarter of 2021.

The Prime Minister signed the contract for the design of the above-ground facilities of the Chiren gas storage

Later, at a videoconference ceremony, a contract was signed for the design of the above-ground facilities of the Chiren gas storage facility, which are part of a large-scale project to expand the capacity of the gas storage facility.

The contract worth nearly BGN 5.3 million was signed between representatives of Bulgartransgaz and the contractor UGS CHIREN-ENGINEERING DZZD, in which companies from Germany, Slovakia and Bulgaria participate, the government information service announced. over the next 10 months the contractor will have the task to develop the investment project for the construction of the aboveground part for the expansion of the gas storage, which includes: a new compressor station with adjacent facilities, gas metering facility, units for separation, heating and drainage, etc. today we are starting to follow the deadlines, we are uncompromising, Bulgaria is being built at full speed ", Prime Minister Borissov was categorical.

"The expansion of the Chiren gas storage facility is key to our energy diversification and market liberalization. It will enable us to store huge quantities of natural gas supplied at competitive prices. And the infrastructure built so far allows us to transport this gas in all directions. "All this will bring profit to the state, it is 100% owned by Bulgaria and is guaranteed to remain so as long as we rule," the Prime Minister added.
