The Prime ministers of Bulgaria and the Republic of South Korea have signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the field of energy, Focus’ special correspondent reported.

This happened during a meeting between the South Korean and Bulgarian prime ministers in Seoul, where Borissov is on an official visit.

We will strengthen cooperation with Bulgaria in the field of tourism, culture and education, South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon said. The South Korean prime minister said that Borissov's visit is expected to create a great opportunity to deepen relations between the two countries. "I asked Borissov that Korean companies be involved in the construction of an RDF facility," said Lee Nak-yeon.

Today, the two prime ministers discussed the development of bilateral relations, as well as relations between North and South Korea. The talks also focused on the steady increase in trade and investment between Bulgaria and Korea. "We both agreed to support the promising future industries of the two countries, such as the production of batteries for electric vehicles and cars, in order to foster job creation and economic development. We have established that the solar energy projects of Korean companies in Bulgaria have become an important basis for the economic cooperation between the two countries. The Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in energy, signed today, will enhance our cooperation in reference to the renewable energy plan," the South Korean prime minister commented.

Among the topics discussed were cooperation in high-tech fields such as science and technology. "We felt that there was a lot of room for joint action between the two countries in the field of defence and defence industries. I explained to Prime Minister Borissov what efforts the Korean government is making to restore peace on the Korean Peninsula, and we thank the Bulgarian government for its support. Prime Minister Borissov and I agreed to create conditions for future success and mutual prosperity," said Lee Nak-yeon.
