Minister Dilov talks with Azerbaijani Ambassador on development of trade relations and investment prospects

The possibilities for development of trade and economic relations and the prospects for joint investments were discussed during a meeting between the Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan H.E. Dr. Hussein Huseynov.

"An important priority for us is the increase of direct Azerbaijani investments in Bulgaria," said Minister Dilov.

The Minister of Economy and Industry stated that Bulgaria and Azerbaijan have great unrealized potential in the development of trade. "For us, it is key to promote the export of Bulgarian goods from various fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, equipment for the food industry, lifting and transport equipment, medicines and others," Dilov pointed out. He stressed that holding a bilateral business forum would also help to activate bilateral business contacts.

According to him, in the field of agriculture and the food industry there are opportunities for cooperation and development, both for the export of food products and machinery and equipment.

During the meeting, the priority sectors to which the two countries should direct their efforts were also outlined, such as IT, pharmaceuticals, transport, tourism and energy. Minister Dilov and Ambassador Huseynov also discussed the opportunities for investments in industrial zones in our country and the participation of companies in infrastructure projects.

For his part, Ambassador Huseynov stressed the readiness of the Azerbaijani side for active cooperation. He pointed out that relations between the two countries have been developing dynamically in recent years, and trade turnover has increased significantly. According to him, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan have a very serious potential in bilateral trade, especially if there is active work to diversify exports and imports.

According to him, the organization of joint forums and meetings, including visits, will provide a platform for the exchange of ideas, improvement of bilateral relations and promotion of business and economic cooperation.
