EWRC decided: The average increase in the price of electricity for households is 8.42%
For customers of "Electrohold" the price increases by 8.36%, for EVN - by 8.39%, and for customers of "Energo Pro" - by 8.55%
The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, at a closed session, approved the prices of electricity for households, the preferential prices of electricity and the premiums of producers of combined production of electricity and heat and the premiums of producers of renewable sources, as of 01.01.2025
After taking into account all pricing elements and applying the pricing methodology, the Commission approved an average increase in the price of electricity for household consumers by 8.42%.
For Electrohold customers, the price increases by 8.36%, for EVN customers - by 8.39%, and for Energo Pro customers - by 8.55%. These prices also include prices for network services.
The main reason that necessitates the change in electricity prices and premiums is the significant increase in the estimated annual market price for base load for the period 01.07.2024 - 30.06.2025 from 173.09 BGN/MWh to 212.12 BGN/MWh or by more than 23%, which reflects the price achieved as of 30.11.2024 and the estimated price for the remaining period until 30.06.2025. According to Art. 31a para. 2 of the Energy Act, the Commission is obliged to amend the determined premiums for producers of electricity from renewable sources in the event of a significant change (over 15%) between the determined estimated market price for base load compared to the achieved and the estimated one for the remaining period of the price period.
The increase in household electricity prices is also due to the higher costs of the public supplier due to the increased quantities of electricity for the regulated market in the amount of 927,000 MWh, a significant part of which will be provided by "TEC Maritsa East 2" EAD based on an order of the Minister of Energy.
An additional factor regarding the change i preferential prices of electricity and premiums for producers of combined production of electricity and heat is the need to update the price of natural gas, which, achieved and estimated for the remaining period of the period, is over 17% higher than the determined estimated price at the beginning of the price period. It should be noted that the prices of thermal energy remain unchanged.
Before adopting the price decision, the Commission held a public discussion on 18.12.2024, to which all interested parties were invited.
The decision of the EWRC on the prices from January 1, 2025 will be published on the regulator's website.
