EWRC to discuss Bulgargaz's proposal to increase the gas price for January by nearly 10 percent

During an open session, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) will discuss Bulgargaz's proposal for the gas price for January 2025 of 83.16 BGN/MWh (excluding access, transmission, excise and VAT prices), including the component for the "public supply" activity in the amount of 1.39 BGN/MWh and the component "obligations to society" in the amount of 0.35 BGN/MWh.

This is an increase of 9.58% compared to the price approveby the regulator of 75.89 BGN/MWh for December 2024. The price of natural gas has been rising since the beginning of summer, and in particular since June.

According to the report of the working group at the EWRC, Bulgargaz has planned to provide the necessary amount of natural gas for the domestic market from the following sources: under a supply contract with Azerbaijan, under a contract with Total Energies Gas and Power Limited, under a contract with BP Gas Marketing Limited (BPGM), as well as from production from the Chiren underground gas storage facility (UGS).
