"The regional partnership for the exchange of best practices in the construction of interconnections is one of the key factors for the development of the electricity system in accordance with the modern challenges of integrating renewable energy." This was said by the Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov during the presentation of the Bulgarian initiative on Energy Connectivity Dialogues in support of European Political Community Regional Partnerships for an Enhanced Energy Transition.

The event, hosted by Minister Malinov, took place at our country's pavilion in Baku within the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in the presence of President Rumen Radev, Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Ministers of Energy of Romania Sebastian Burduza, of Greece Theodoros Skilakakis, of Belgium Tine Van der Straaten, of Moldova Victor Parlikov, the Deputy Minister of Azerbaijan Orhan Zeylyanov, the Minister of Innovation and Growth of Bulgaria Assoc. Dr. Rosen Karadimov , Energy Deputy Minister Iva Petrova and other officials.

The Non-Paper on Energy Connectivity Dialogues in Support of the European Political Community's Regional Partnerships for an Enhanced Energy Transition calls for deepening inter-regional cooperation to deliver more sustainable, secure and clean energy systems. The initiative is in fulfillment of the goals of the Paris Agreement and in support of electricity transmission connectivity in the South-North Corridor, which will enable the integration of renewable energy into energy systems. Belgium, the Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, Moldova, Romania, Great Britain, and Hungary were the first countries to support the initiative. We expect other countries to join it.

"Our vision is to hold a series of technical and politically structured dialogues with the aim of exchanging views on topics of common interest in the coming months," explained Minister Malinov. In February 2025, at a thematic event in Sofia, the scope of the dialogues will be determined and specific areas will be formulated in which it would be most useful to share knowledge, know-how and experience. According to Minister Malinov, the united and coordinated efforts of the countries to develop their electricity systems are the most accurate answer to the challenges related to the energy transition.
