Acting Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov announced to BTA today that neither he as a minister nor the Ministry of Energy has any information about the sale of Lukoil Neftohim Burgas.

Malinov gave a briefing in the Council of Ministers in connection with the information, according to the "Financial Times", which refers to its sources, that the Russian energy giant "Lukoil" plans to sell its majority stake in its refinery in Bulgaria by the end of the year, at least - the company's major asset in the Balkans, of a Qatari-British consortium.

Malinov said that such information was not provided to him either by the majority shareholder in "Neftohim Burgas", nor by the operational management of the refinery, nor by the representative of the state, who is on the Supervisory Board of the company. "This worries me personally - the lack of any information provided in an official way", commented the official minister.

He said he would make formal inquiries to shareholders and the refinery's operational management about this potential deal as early as today. "If we receive such information, we will analyze it and prepare our report accordingly, and for this reason I would not be able to comment on the new owner named by you in the media, as I am not familiar with either the structure or the composition of this property," said Malinov.
