The Minister of Economy and Industry Dr. Petko Nikolov held a meeting with representatives of a Japanese business delegation that is on an official visit to our country. It became clear that representatives of Japanese companies are interested in investments in the field of film production, IT industry, food industry and tourism.

"The visit is proof of the interest of Japanese business in Bulgaria to increase investments and increase bilateral trade," said Minister Nikolov. He defined the visit as key to deepening the cooperation between the two countries. "Japan is our important partner in the East Asian region, with whom Bulgaria has been building successful diplomatic relations for 115 years, and in recent years we have been reporting an active development of the bilateral dialogue," the Minister of Economy also said.

The delegation includes Japanese companies in the field of food industry, transport, construction, film industry, tourism and others. A member of the delegation is also Kaloyan Mahlyanov, the former Kotooshu sumist who has made an outstanding contribution to Japanese-Bulgarian bilateral relations.

Minister Petko Nikolov introduced the Japanese business representatives to the investment climate and trade potential. "We rely on the presence of companies from Japan and on investments in the Bulgarian industrial parks," he pointed out. During the meeting, the possibilities for active development and expansion of bilateral relations in sectors such as sustainable innovation, digitalization, technology and others were discussed.

The Minister of Economy emphasized that a number of Bulgarian products could enter the Japanese market, among them are food products, wine, rose oil and others. In this regard, he emphasized the good cooperation between the Bulgarian company "LB Bulgaricum" EAD and the Japanese "Meiji". "We deeply value the long-standing relationship between the two companies, which recently celebrated 50 years of their successful partnership," he said.

Within the framework of the meeting, the possibility of a direct air line between Bulgaria and Japan was also discussed, which will be an additional incentive for the activation of business relations between the two countries.
