RIA: In order not to delay the construction of AM "Hemus" we will reduce the gauge of the route and the design speed

Within three months, a building permit can be issued and construction and installation works on lots 4, 5 and 6 of the Hemus highway can begin by the end of the year. This was announced by Yordan Valchev, Chairman of the Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA), during the ongoing parliamentary hearing on the progress of the construction of the Hemus highway, BTA reported. Valchev also participated in the meeting on the topic of progress in the procedures for starting the construction of the Black Sea highway. The official Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Violeta Koritarova, also took part in the hearing.

In response to a question from People's Representative Yordan Terziyski from the PP-DB parliamentary group, Yordan Valchev pointed out that the RIA chose the option of a reduced gauge to 27 meters and a speed limit of 120 km, in order not to delay the start of construction, and also for better integration with the subsequently completed lots 9 and 10. Similar are the gauges for traffic on expressways in our country, as well as on a part of the Struma highway in the Pernik region.

Funding for a Pleven bypass project is foreseen in the RIA, as well as meetings in the district to assess the best options for the needs of the settlement. The agency's wish is that the projects be included in the program for 2025 as a priority as possible.
