The Council of the EU approved 4 recommendations for the development of the Bulgarian economy

The Council of the EU announced that it has approved the recommendations for the development of the economy of the European countries. Four recommendations have been approved for Bulgaria and are published on the Council's website.

The first is for our country to present a medium-term fiscal and organizational plan. Bulgaria is expected to maintain a general government deficit below 3 percent of GDP and to keep government debt at a reasonable level in the medium term.

The second recommendation is for Bulgaria to significantly accelerate the implementation of cohesion policy programs and the recovery and sustainability plan, with the completion of reforms and investments by August 2026, by improving the work and increasing the capacity of the administration, including at the regional level, improving the quality of public procurement procedures and the independence and performance of regulators. According to the cohesion policy, it is expected that the opportunities for the development of strategic technologies to improve competitiveness will be taken into account.

The third recommendation is to improve education and training, including for disadvantaged people, as well as worker skills, and to increase competitiveness and support the transition to a clean economy.

Fourthly, the Council of the EU recommends reducing our country's dependence on fossil fuels and accelerating the transition to clean energy, especially with the implementation of renewable energy in central heating and deployment of wind generators. Bulgaria should provide opportunities for energy storage and improve the flexibility of the energy system. Our country is expected to reduce the share of people who cannot heat their homes. Development of urban railways and deployment of the necessary infrastructure are also recommended.
