BGN 278 million will be compensated for the companies that pumped expensive natural gas into Chiren in the summer of 2022
The Council of Ministers approved a program for compensating companies that pumped natural gas into the Chiren Gas Plant in the period 01.05.2022 - 11.10.2022
The enterprises that pumped natural gas into the Chiren underground gas storage in the period 01.05.2022 - 11.10.2022 will be compensated. This was decided by the Council of Ministers at its meeting today, approving a program for these compensations.
The enterprises that supplied natural gas to the Chiren Gas Plant in the specified period purchased it at freely negotiated prices, which were too high at that time. By assuming a certain commercial risk, these companies have contributed to the achievement of the set goal of storage capacity of at least 80% in accordance with the Emergency Action Plan prepared according to Regulation (EU) 2017/1938 of 25.10.2017 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
The financial means for the implementation of the program are in the indicative amount of BGN 278 million. They will be provided from the revenues in the "Security of the Electricity System" fund.
Compensation under the Program will be paid after receiving a positive opinion from the European Commission on state aid compatible with the EU internal market.
