After a five-year hiatus, on July 1, 2024, the Sixth Meeting of the Bulgarian-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan. Co-chairman from the Bulgarian side is the Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov. During the session, current issues of Bulgarian-Azerbaijani economic relations are planned to be discussed, as well as the possibilities for expanding bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

Azerbaijan is a long-standing strategic partner of Bulgaria. Long-term economic cooperation has been established between the two countries, and the energy sector occupies a key place in bilateral relations. The Republic of Azerbaijan plays an important role in ensuring the diversification of natural gas supplies and, accordingly, in increasing energy security in Europe.
