Minister Nikolov and the ambassador of Japan in our country talked about the activation of economic relations
A Japanese business delegation will visit our country in October
The Minister of Economy and Industry Dr. Petko Nikolov and the Ambassador of Japan to our country H.E. Hisashi Michigami discussed activation of bilateral economic cooperation. The two discussed the possibilities of improving trade relations and investments between the two countries.
Minister Nikolov emphasized that Bulgaria and Japan have the potential to realize greater trade and make business relations between the two countries more dynamic. "We will encourage bilateral contacts between companies from both countries," the economic minister said at the meeting. He pointed out that the fruitful cooperation between the Japanese "Meiji" and "LB Bulgaricum" will continue in the future, and the interest of both parties will be protected.
Ambassador Michigami pointed out that Japanese investors in our country are satisfied, and most of them want to expand their production in the country. According to him, Japanese companies operating in Bulgaria have created 7,700 jobs.
He emphasized that Japanese business is showing interest in investments in Bulgaria in the field of the automotive sector and energy, where there is great potential for partnership.
H.E. Hisashi Michigami announced that the organization of a Japanese business delegation is also underway, which will arrive on a visit to Bulgaria in October, and this will give a good start to strengthening the ties between businesses from both countries.
At the meeting, it was also pointed out that Bulgaria's participation in the world exhibition EXPO 2025, which will be held in Osaka, is a good opportunity to increase interest in our country in Japan.
In 2023, total trade with Japan will reach nearly 310 million USD. Bulgarian exports amounted to USD 96 million, which is an increase of 19% compared to the previous year.
