David Sukalinski: Intellectual property is one of the main drivers for sustainable economic growth

Intellectual property is one of the main drivers of sustainable economic growth from science to innovation and investment. This was said by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. David Sukalinski, at the celebration of the World Intellectual Property Day. According to him, today we celebrate the contribution of inventors and creators around the world.

"The importance of intellectual property is becoming greater and should be considered in the context of the ambitious goals that the EU sets for itself - green transition, digitalization of the internal market, as well as the ever-wider application of artificial intelligence," the deputy minister pointed out Sukalinski.

He was categorical that such a transformation of our economy and industry can be ensured with the help of innovations as objects of intellectual property.

According to Deputy Minister Sukalinski, the development of many industries and businesses is based on the protection of their intellectual property, and he drew attention to the economic benefits of its protection. "Its protection guarantees the jobs created, promotes employment and technology exchange, and protects future investments," he pointed out.

On the occasion of today, the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Council for Innovation, Digitization and New Technologies (CIDNT) of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) organized an official award ceremony for the annual awards in the "Innovative Enterprise" competition. Deputy Minister David Sukalinski presented the award in the "Start-up Innovative Company 2023" category

This year's IP Day 2024 theme, chosen by the World Intellectual Property Organization this year, is "Future through Innovation and Creativity".
