Deputy Minister Sukalinski: Innovations will increase the competitiveness of the Bulgarian furniture industry
The branch creates more than 3% of the added value in the industry
"Innovations contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the Bulgarian furniture and woodworking industry and its entry into new markets." This was commented by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. David Sukalinski, during the opening of the twentieth Technomebel exhibition. This year's edition, which presents the latest technologies in the sector, begins today and will continue until April 26 at the Inter Expo Center About 100 companies are participating in this year's edition, showing over 300 Bulgarian and foreign brands.
According to Deputy Minister Sukalinski, the furniture industry is among the sectors that have developed sustainably in recent years in Bulgaria. The branch creates more than 3% of the added value in the industry and provides employment to more than 30 thousand people, which is 4% of those employed in the industry. The furniture industry has significant potential for creating added value and providing employment, as well as stimulating investment and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises.
"The sector is among the traditional industrial productions of Bulgaria, which have a good raw material base, built infrastructure and have a leading role in providing jobs today," said Deputy Minister Sukalinski. According to him, enterprises support economic and social development in remote and less industrialized regions of the country, which contributes to overcoming regional inequalities.
The opening was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Miroslav Marinov, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Branch Chamber of the Woodworking and Furniture Industry Prof. Dr. Vasil Zhivkov and representatives of employer organizations. Exhibitors from Bulgaria, Turkey, Romania and others are present at Technomebel. Manufacturers and distributors of woodworking machines and equipment and others are included with their stands. Within the framework of the exhibition, they present the latest technologies for wood processing and furniture production, novelties in materials for furniture production, as well as everything necessary for equipment of woodworking and furniture factories.
