Infrastructure, transport and energy were the focus of today's meeting of the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria and Greece. Academician Nikolay Denkov and Kyriakos Mitsotakis held a private conversation in Athens.

Bulgaria and Greece have excellent strategic relations, stated the Bulgarian Prime Minister. He emphasized the projects of interest to both countries, including in the context of the development of vertical transport and energy connectivity along the North-South axis. "There are opportunities to accelerate and finalize some of the documents under discussion in the next few months." The main goal is to see how we can accelerate progress and achieve final results in the coming months," stressed Academician Denkov, quoted by the government information service.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis prioritized connectivity between Greece and Bulgaria in transport, energy and digital communication. "It is important to build on the successful tripartite discussions we held in Euxinograd with our Romanian partners," the Greek Prime Minister stressed. Academician Denkov's visit to the Greek capital today is less than three months after the tripartite meeting between the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria, Greece and Romania, which our country hosted in October of this year in Euxinograd. They then rallied around the idea of working together to strengthen regional connectivity and adopted a joint declaration on the development of transport, energy and digital connectivity between the three countries.

The Prime Minister of our southern neighbor congratulated Bulgaria on the decision of the Council of the European Union from the end of March this year. for our country to drop the control of the air and sea borders with the countries of the Schengen area. "We expect Schengen to be fully applicable, including for land borders, which are so important to our bilateral relations and economic trade," Mitsotakis added. He pointed out that Academician Denkov's visit is the first official visit to Greece for 2024 and this speaks of the quality of bilateral relations.

After the one-on-one meeting between the two prime ministers, a working lunch was held, in which the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Gabriel, the Minister of Finance Asen Vassilev, the Minister of Environment and Water Julian Popov and the Minister of Energy Rumen Radev also took part.
