The President: Aggressive incompetent politics, which scratch any expertise, is dangerous for the future of Bulgaria
Solving the demographic problem involves creating conditions for young people to stay in Bulgaria, the head of state emphasized during a meeting with representatives of the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria
Strategically important decisions for Bulgaria must be made after a comprehensive analysis and a thorough debate, because the aggressive incompetent policy, which scratches any expertise, is dangerous for the future of the country. This was stated by President Rumen Radev during a meeting with representatives of the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria, which was held at "Dondukov" 2. The meeting was also attended by Vice President Iliana Yotova.
he head of state pointed out that very often politics replaces professional expertise, examples in this regard being the strategic decisions of the parliament related to the future of nuclear energy in our country and the purchase of new reactors for the Kozloduy NPP. The decision was taken by the people's representatives without expert justification, without a comparison between different alternative options and without clarity what will be the final price that our country will have to pay for the nuclear reactors.
Solving the demographic problem is not only related to indicators such as birth and death rates, but goes through creating suitable conditions for young people to stay in Bulgaria. The emigration of young educated Bulgarians is the basis of the alarming demographic indicators in our country, is the opinion of the head of state. In his words, in this direction, efforts are needed to overcome social inequalities in our country, as well as for the development of professional education, which will contribute to dealing with the lack of trained personnel in the industry. The general position was that the ideas of importing workers from other countries for the needs of Bulgarian business will not solve the long-term and sustainable problems related to the low demographic indicators.
The participants in the meeting were united around the opinion that greater hearing of the opinions of the Economic and Social Council is necessary on the part of the executive and legislative authorities in our country. During the conversation, other leading topics were discussed, on which the ISS expects to focus its attention in the coming year. Among them are the challenges facing the Bulgarian energy sector, related to the Green transition, digitalization and others.
