The Energy Commission accepted that the export of Russian oil products will be suspended from January 1, 2024. "If they are, from any other oil, there is no limit to the export of any products," commented the chairman of the Energy Commission, Delyan Dobrev.

The final import of Russian oil stops from March 1, 2024. The decision was made within a few minutes without debate.

The MPs also voted "for" dropping the fee (BGN 20/MWh) for the transit of Russian natural gas through Bulgaria. Ivaylo Mirchev from the PP-DB stated that by itself this fee would have led to a positive financial result of BGN 2 billion. In this regard, he emphasized that the refusal of the parliamentary group he represented was temporary and tied the agreement to concerns about Schengen.

Earlier, it became clear that in the last quarter, alternatives to Russian oil of the order of 20% of more than 12 types of oil from 9 countries were processed in the "Lukoil Neftohim Burgas" refinery. According to unofficial data, in order for the oil refinery to reach a positive result, samples of a large number of varieties are needed, which concerns a period of 6 to 9 months.
