The Minister of Finance Asen Vassilev held a meeting today with the ambassadors of the USA in Bulgaria, e.g. Kenneth Marten and in Greece e.g. George Tsunis. The energy and transport connectivity of the Balkans along the South-North axis from the Greek port of Alexandroupolis, through Bulgaria and Romania to Moldova, Ukraine and Northern Europe was the main topic of the meeting, the press center of the finance department announced.

Minister Vassilev stated the readiness of our country to develop projects for the construction of an oil pipeline and expansion of the electricity transmission network, as well as a land and rail connection from the Mediterranean port of Alexandroupolis through Bulgaria to Romania. The ambassadors assured that the US is ready to support regional efforts to increase the sustainability of energy and transport connectivity.

E.g. George Tsunis is in Bulgaria as part of his tour, which also includes Moldova and Romania. Its aim is to strengthen regional energy cooperation and infrastructure connectivity along the corridor between Greece and Ukraine, as well as to promote a more sustainable, prosperous and secure future in South-Eastern Europe.
