Does Bulgaria have a plan on how to maintain and manage its energy security? What will be the role of the new energy strategy of our country and will it provide an adequate direction for the development of the energy sector and the economy? And how this strategy document will be linked to the future of base stations, green investment and jobs for specialists. Answering these questions takes time and planning. And this is done through a discussion of all interested parties. This is precisely the idea of the upcoming conference "Energy Strategy of Bulgaria: Plan for Energy Security". It is organized by MEP Tsvetelina Penkova from the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament. It is during the conference that the framework for the development of the energy sector in our country is expected to be outlined. The event will take place in the National Assembly on 24.11.2023 (Friday) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Dir.bg and 3eNews are media partners of the debate.

The conference will be opened by the Speaker of the National Assembly Mr. Rosen Zhelyazkov and the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Rumen Radev. Representatives of all parliamentary groups in the 49th National Assembly, representatives of the executive power, trade unions, business and academia will take part.

It is of great importance for our country to build an independent, stable and reliable energy system, and the National Assembly is the field where the foundations of this process must be laid. Due to the importance of the topic, joining forces and cooperation between state institutions, industry, the academic and non-governmental sector and trade unions are a guarantee of good results in the long term for the energy policy and development of our country, Tsvetelina Penkova is convinced.

Bulgaria has gone through and continues to go through a number of challenges: the covid crisis, disrupted supply chains, high electricity prices, rising inflation, conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as domestic political instability. All of them create a need for long-term policies that can meet the needs of business, industry and Bulgarian citizens. One of the most important sectors on which we must focus serious attention as politicians, legislators and socially engaged individuals is that of energy.

Within the framework of the conference, it is planned to present Bulgarian innovations in the field of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency and sustainable practices, as well as their application in industry and the economy, the organizers
